In or out of gear? The only thing I can recall being described as making a clacking sound is a damper plate.

Any particular time, acceleration, deceleration?

Like Doug says, could be the springs in the damper plate.

I had my mechcanic down to take a ride with me and after running around at high and low speeds the clacking was present at 2500 rpm he thinks it is a baffel plate in the muffler
