Currently I had been using a 44# Delta with a 20# Danforth secondary on the rail, but deploying the #2 (the anchor) is cumbersome and the first mate can't do it. The 20 is also too small to depend on for a 40 ft boat.
So...... I bought a used 35# Danforth high tensile and will make that my primary. The Delta will become #2.
My existing pulpit is a little on the small side, but I think I came up with a workable mod, thanks to the pulpit arrangement I saw last summer at our Coecles Harbor rendezvous.
I have posted some pics below of the set-up in sawhorses. It does appear to work, both anchors fit and do not interfere. YES I plan on using the pressure treated piece you see (stained dark) and if I like it after this summer I'll consider changing to a piece of real wood.

I would use some strips of mahogany on the bottom surface to tie the added piece to the original pulpit secured with screws and epoxy.
I also included a picture of the current set up so you can judge the space I have available.
(I have my windlass apart and am rebuilding it so only the base is shown with the new set up)
Comments and new ideas appreciated.
