Pic of oil pressure location on 6LP?

Post by jms02050 »

Hi. Need to troubleshoot the oil pressure sender and gauge on my Yanmar 6LP. Started with the alarm at start up no longer beeping but a steady alarm until the pressure built up. Now the gauge doesn’t move while running. This is the Beede combo gauge unit.

Looking for the location of the sender on the engine. Thinking this is it but wanted to confirm. Thx!

Also wondering what folks with the Beede gauge see for pressure underway?

There are two. one is the idiot light and one the gauge. I replaced mine when I did my new dash. I unfortunately do not remember which was which. Get a jumper and test each to find the idiot light or find a engine diagram. My engine manual is too large to upload but search the net they are out there.

Found this info which my mechanic confirmed. Sender is on the far right. Hope this helps others.

Hey Mike,

I need a new idiot light oil pressure sensor. wired pulled out and I don't get the buzz when I start the engine. Oil pressure reads fine. I am having trouble finding the part number. The parts manual wiring harness diagram just calls everything "sensor". You happen to know a way to find?

Thx

Not sure what would work. I had to change my oil sender for my new Beede gauge. Amazon has several I also found a Yanmar tractor one that had an eye connection. I would try that one for the thread. I believe they are BSP not tapered but straight threads.

catalina_mike -

Thanks for the part number!

While normal, my oil pressure goes way down at idle and always has. I say normal but really have no idea what normal is (guess that applies to ALOT of things:)

It picks up with RPM’s so haven’t bothered to look into. Going on 4-5 years now but having a spare for when I get off my ars to look at it is well worth the $16-17 bucks:)
