fuel burn Albin 30fc

I have Albin 30FC with 265hp Perkins Diesel. Just purchased bring down from Nashville to Pensacola. would like to get an idea of fuel burn at say 7-8kt maybe 1800 -2000 RPM. George Sgiler

I answered my own question about fuel burn on my Albin 30FC with 265hp Perkins. I brought the boat down river from Gallatin, TN to Demopolis, Al about 600 miles. It was generally smooth water so I played with different power settings and stern planes to determine best speed:fuel burn. I found that with planes full up at 1700RPM's the boat made about 8.7MPH. If I added power or moved the planes the boat either used more fuel for gaining only .3 to .5 MPH. At 1700 RPM's the fuel burn was right at 5.5GPH. Boat was very happy at that speed and so was I. Comfortable ride and not nearly as much noise as higher RPM's. I will bring boat on down river to Pensacola when the Demopolis Lock is repaired, estimated mid May 2024. I had just purchased this boat and myself and two friends were aboard and we were very comfortable and even though a small galley, we ate like kings. Will comment on overall trip when reaching Pensacola. But so far this boat has met all my expectations. One can expect to transit 12 locks on trip from say Nashville to Demopolis. Most locks were fast and easy except the one time we caught a barge just entering on the opposite side and we waited for 45 min. for it to clear.

Just for reference. My 28 will return about 2.5 nm to the gallon but that’s with a yanmar 6lp. I’m hoping to see a better return with the new running gear and should have an idea in the next month.

I just finished my trip in Albin 30 FC with 265hp Perkins. Found that best operating RPM to be 1600 which gives me just over 8mph. At this setting I found I burned about 4.4 gph which gives me about 1.8 statute miles to the gallon. I'm not sure what amount of my 136 gallon fuel capacity is usable but I believe allowing for say 6 gallons on unusable fuel I have a range of about 290 statute miles which on the river trip from Demopolis, Al to Pensacola gave me a level of comfort as there are some long legs, and if Bobbie's Fish Camp did not have fuel, I would have need that range. Which by the way I was using Active Captain which showed a Martin Midstream Marina in Mobile, Al which is not there! So we ended up crossing Mobile Bay in 25kts of wind with rough seas, but the boat did very well and never a concern as we motored into the Fairhope Marina.

20.5 x 19.5 with no cup. Developed over the past eight years with Clements engineering here in the U.K. WOT is just shy of 26 knots and cruise is between 18-19 at 3300 rpm. Larger surface contact area on the blades and I can achieve 4000rpm on the yanmar tach with zero black smoke.

Ummm, does Clements ship to the US? I'm only getting 1.8 NM/Gal cruising at 15 KN at 3600 RPM with the 6LP on my 28 engine box, 19x9 4 blade, full tanks 2 people. That would be quite an improvement in both cruise speed and fuel burn.

Ummm, does Clements ship to the US? I'm only getting 1.8 NM/Gal cruising at 15 KN at 3600 RPM with the 6LP on my 28 engine box, 19x9 4 blade, full tanks 2 people. That would be quite an improvement in both cruise speed and fuel burn.

If you contact Clements, ask for Paul. Mention Lee with Fisher Price 2 and I’m sure they would ship to the US. I can always talk with him if you’re serious?

Awesome, thanks. I'll probably contact them in the off season. Just did a haulout and quite a bit of improvements this year... Prop likely next year.

Thanks Nancy. Yes, we've got some great prop shops around, but the numbers Tree is reporting for that prop are way better than I've seen on this forum for 28s with the Yanmar. Really piqued my interest
