Is it true that the hatch over the dinette was installed with 5200? I think mine is leaking I want to remove it and reseal it I really don't want to do a patch. I started to remove it BUTT that thing doesn't want to budge if it is 5200 I am worried that the gel coat will come with the hatch. I was able to get a snap on gasket scrapper under one corner. I hate to start forcing things that usually leads to a bad place. A
any help would be appreciated.

Which boat do you have, Bob?

We had (fingers crossed on the past tense) an overhead hatch leak last summer above the bed. I used Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure - love that stuff - and so far so good. It's a Pompanette SS Voyager Mid-Profile Series. Might be worth a try.

Easy to remove but you need to bed it down on hatch tape. It’s a neoprene tape around 1/8” thick and works perfectly. I did mine around 9 years ago and hasn’t leaked since.

You're welcome. Heads up - Captain Tolley's, not Trolleys.

I think you're talking about a leak at the hatch window seal and the frame? My problem is between the frame and the deck as I posted earlier, I am having one hell of a time removing the hatch! I already did the 6-port hole windows one was leaking pretty bad port side aft,
water was seen leaking into the aft bunk. I really don't want to have to replace the hatch it should be an easy fix just some time.

They're normally bonded down with sealant and that is why you may be struggling to remove it. A thin blade between the seal will help you.

Generally when they are fitted, sealant is applied and then screwed down tight but you need to let the sealant cure before final tightening as you can imagine that the coach roof isn't perfectly flat.

That is why I used neoprene tape as previously advised to me on here and it is still going strong. IIRC the tape is 1" wide by 1/8" thick

Tree, is that hatch tape better than butyl? At least in this application. I’m a big fan of butyl but the hatch is a fair bit of acreage.

9 years leak free - well except a small amount of water from the replacement seal from the window to the frame but not from the frame to the deck and that’s only when I wash down with a hose in that area.

I was talking about a leak between the frame and the deck on the overhead hatch on a 35CB. Same idea as the 28TE. If you're in the process of removing the hatch, it's probably too late to try my approach (Captain Tolley's).

I did get bottle of Captain Tolleys and used it yesterday the thing sucked up quite a bit, I also bought a roll white Butyl tape I plan on taping the seam hopefully that gets me through the season, and next fall after I am shrink wrapped I will remove the hatch one way or the other and fix it right. I appreciate all the help thanks

If you remove the “ceiling “ of the port bunk you can then take the small Panel off the water connection is there for cockpit wash down. I’m not sure if that helps or if it is where your leak is from. Good luck 👍🏻
