Good info, thx.. The vent is in the same location as the old one: immediately forward of the pump-out fitting, which is immediately forward of the mid-ship cleat. We had enlarge the opening as the old vent was only 1/2".

Nah, seems like the water came from the through bolted fasteners, the seal just failed. (If there was a seal or caulk/silicone applied from the factory). Where do you think the water is coming from? Someplace upstream of that trim piece?
