Hmmm - sounds like a good idea, thanks to both. Love this Forum.
Now, if only I knew how to connect the all-around (anchor light) as a steaming light without messing up all my nav lights / wiring....... usually lights and wiring go horribly wrong when I touch them.......Going to take a trip to the Keys this winter so need to deal with it.

Can't offer the solution without knowing exactly how things are wired up now as to switches. Simplest for you might be to move the overhead light to a dedicated switch that powers both leads so the overhead is always on 360 deg. If your on the anchor it's the only switch you flip. If you are steaming, turn on your running lights and the switch for the overhead.

There is a terminal strip located behind this panel that have both switchlegs to your steaming light. They are terminated on that strip, so easy to split them how you want, or add a quick jumper if you lose your stern light. Also access to fish a new wire to the dash if you decide to go that route.
