thruster n 28 Albin what zinc ?

Post by 195752 »

Good Day ! New boat to me, and there is no zinc on the thruster; I am in salt water. I have no paper work on the thruster or even the name. All Albins must have the same thrusters? What type and size do I install and where. The prop side has a small female thread; I think?
There is a lot of questions on a new used boat.
Got my first boat bite yesterday on the prop. only 3 stiches.
Be Good!

Yes, there is a zinc:
Or in my case, I am using an aluminum anode because the boat is in brackish waters.
Have seen 3 different bow thrusters on the Albin 28: My 2001 year model got the Vetus 5012.
I get my zincs from “boatzincs.com”.

Yes there is a Zink on the Thrusters. You will see it when you remove the Propeller.

On some boats the anode is plainly visible without removing the propeller, see above picture: The shiny piece of metal is the anode, or zinc.

To all you good folks, Thanks for the info. I will be hauling out in a week or so , so I will be searching for the zinc. A new used boat always needs a lot of attention! Now I have to work on my MGA.

Check the motor label under the V-berth, that should tell you which model thruster you have, and then, which anode.
Easy.
