Robert, I didn't look too hard for the tail flange because I needed a new sink anyway. If your strainer looks anything like mine did (i.e. pretty crusty), an entire new one will do wonders for the appearance of your sink.

I am finally about to install my 2 new sinks. I am considering using DAP Alex Plus instead of the hated silicone, just in case a sink needs to be removed in the future. Has anybody had success with Alex Plus or other more user-friendly caulk? The Alex Plus comes in antique white which is closer to the off-white gelcoat.

With all this sink talk you guys got me motivated to buff my sinks and change the corroded drains - Installed stainless steel drains from HD.

Very nice, Tom. What's your buffing technique?

I used a buffer attachment on my drill motor from Pep boys used for polishing rims - its a 5" round ball pad- used some rubbing compound took about 3 mins a sink - quick and easy.
