What did your Albin get for Christmas this year?
This year Nordvika got a Heart System Tank Tender tank monitoring system.
This is a purely air-pressure operated system for checking the fill level of all the tanks on the boat. I opted for one that will just do the fuel tanks, as we have accurate gauges for the water and waste tank, but you can get one that will handle up to ten tanks.
http://www.thetanktender.com/
You simply press the button for the tank you want to check, then pump the plunger a couple times. This forces a small amount of air out of a tube that is inserted into the tank. Then, as the liquid fills the tube back up, it measures the air displaced to provide a super-accurate reading, in inches, of the tank's fill level.
I haven't installed it yet, but I saw it in operation at the production facility here in Gig Harbor, and it performed as described. I'm looking forward to having an accurate fuel gauge. The one we have now registers about 3/8 full when you're actually nearly empty. No amount of calibration or adjustment seems to have any affect.

I ordered that book 2 months ago and received two of em. I was going to send one back but after reading through it I decided to keep one at home and the other on the boat. Good read.
As far as boat gifts,, well I mentioned in posts awhile back about how my anchor would not drop (after putting in an expensive freefall windless), and how others used their "better half's" to help. Well I did not ask for it but she bought me one of those pivoting anchor rollers, I guess it was a gift right back to her
Im not sure its the right one, but I will play with it and post pics if it works out..

New electronics, including C 120 display. In order to get it to flush mount in the dash a new dash plate is being made... Pictures to follow.

Christmas for PITOU this year : a Surface Sky Screen from Ocean Air. The Admiral saw these on some boats at the Maine Boatbuilders Show in Portland last year. 1 side holds a retractable screen and the other a retractable light blocking shade which will be nice for those AM's that we might like to sleep in a bit, you know maybe until 7 There is nothing like that early mug up on the boat.

And while the "blackout" feature is the main thing I also like the idea of getting rid of the framed screen, which is a pain to install/remove for hatch access with the retractable version that comes with this. Very nice.

Doug, installed on of those on our boat two years ago. Very easy to do. Just four screws, one in each corner. I pre-drilled the existing aluminum hatch frame for the screws and just screwed it in. Works great you can even put the screen and the shade together to adjust the amount of darkness with just a little screened opening to let in some air.

Mike, I have my fingers crossed. You say the install was easy to do. Did the frame for the Ocean Air unit need to be shimmed at all for any curvature in the headliner or was it a nice flat fit? Any tips for install? I haven't been down the boat yet and probably won't for another 3 weeks. Just had my final in a series of 4 knee surgeries on the left side this past Thursday.StockHR wrote:Doug, installed on of those on our boat two years ago. Very easy to do.
