Trolling Valve
I am looking to have a trolling valve installed. Anyone near the Maryland (Rock Hall) know where I can get this done? Also any feedback from anyone that has added one? Thanks. Just bought the 28te 2 weeks ago and cant catch a fish at 3.5
Also need a rocket launcher made if you know anyone.

Re: Trolling Valve
My 28 has a trolling valve that works very well allowing trolling speed in calm seas of down to 1.5 knots. On the West Coast they're common when trolling for salmon. Can't help you where to find one in Maryland. Best of luck.

Re: Trolling Valve
Larry, I use drift socks to get my TE 28 down to 2.0 - 2.5 MPH, works well in most cases.

Re: Trolling Valve
I've added trolling valves to both my 28TE and again in my 31TE. Depending on tide, wind etc., I can get the troll down to 1.2 - 1.5 knots .. perfect for striper trolling the tube & worm with lead core.
On the 28 I just used a simple T-handle push pull cable, but on the 31 I stepped up the program with a very smooth CableCraft Micro Adjustable control cable. This cable also has a twist lock on it "Hold" so that it can be firmly set once it's dialed in. I highly recommend the CableCraft.
Also, be sure to take advantage of the trolling valve safety switch and wire a big red light to your helm area as a reminder of when the valve is engaged.

Thanks Do you know what trans you have? I have a ZF Hurth HSW 630 V1-1:55. Do you know how much it would cost to add one.

Re: Trolling Valve
I have a ZF in a 31TE. About 900 for the valve and 8 hours labor. That included a little extra but it’s close.
Good luck

Re: Trolling Valve
Not sure if you found someone yet but I’m willing to bet that Haven Harbor in Rock Hall could do it

Re: Trolling Valve
$3,000 is a little rich for that job. $900 to $1,100 for the valve, a Cablecraft push pull cable about $150. Labor .. on my 28TE it took me (first timer & not a mechanic) about eight hours. On my 31TE .. basically the same drill and I added a red light to the dash. That install took me about 4 hours. An all in fair price should be in the $2,000 range.
