4D61 STARTER

Post by 6S2344 »

I'm having trouble removing my starter. I have taken out 4 bolts, are there anymore? I got it to rotate about 1 in. but it wont separate from engine.
After about 4 hrs. in the blistering heat, I gave up. Am i missing something? Thank you. Matt.

The starter needs to be wiggled out...depending on the issue, the flywheel teeth may be tight against it. I can take a closer look again at ours to be sure, but I only recall the 4 bolts. If you post a picture, we may be able to help come up with other solutions. I recal having very little room for it given the other hoses, etc.
