Window Washer Pump location

Post by Alan_Douville »

Noticed my window washer fluid (water) is not working. Anybody know where the pump is located for it on a 28?

I installed a school bus reservoir, which like all systems usually has the pump built into the container. So wherever you put the water, check it out.

I don't have one. Would be interested to see how / where people installed one (or where the factory did so).

I believe mine is just controlled by a solenoid off the fresh water system. Fresh water pump has to be turned on to run. Works pretty well.

Yes it is :) I had the Vetus Washer system installed after getting tired of running up on the bow with a bucket of fresh water to get the salt off while drift fishing.

Rotate that photo 90 degrees clockwise :) The pilothouse window is at the bottom of the photo. This is the inside panel on the starboard side of the pilothouse. The metal plates are the backers for the Rupp Sidekick Outriggers.

Well, the good news is that after hours of searchinig and removing panels, I found the pump solenoid behind my helm station storage cabinets, the bad news is that it was working just fine. Looking up to the window washer knob, I could see that one of the wires had come off the connection, cause seems to be factory installation and making the harness too tight. One hour later, and a lot of cursing trying to reach up into there, I extended the wire, reconnected it properly and my washers are back in action.

I was about to install a tank, pump and system but this looks like a great idea I jus need a solenoid.
