A25 companion water hatch prop rod
Has anyone rebuilt the rod that supports the hatch for the companionway? Mine keeps falling and I'm sick of getting bopped on the head.

No, but I'm sure a suitable replacement can be found somewhere. Either that or wear a helmet

Helmet it is then! I showed the assembly to some old timers on the dock and (not) sur]risingly they said it was some old hardware!
It looks to me like it is a sort of grease plunger. There is a slit on the plunger that I assume is to let grease pass.
I think there would have been an o-ring or leather washer to keep the grease in the tube.

I had some old camper jacks which wouldn't pump. I took them to a hydraulic supply company and they sized o-rings to replace the failed ones. Worked fine afterwards. Maybe a place like that could do the same for that part.
