Fresh water pump

Post by kjg1951 »

My pump will not turn on .. When I put the breaker on it not does turn in and the wires to the pump become hot. ... Is it time for a new pump or is there a problem elsewhere? I've had to turn the breaker on and off at times for the pump to work ... Thanks

If the wires are getting hot it sounds like there might be a short or some arcing somewhere. I would start by replacing the pump as they are not too expensive

Stuck motor causing high amps and heat. It sometimes is as simple as tapping it to break it free without having to take it apart. Worse case you have to replace it..

That's what I put in. I like jabsco pumps. Have one on the other boat, two on the Albin and two on my dads boat.

That's the way mine was installed. I couldn't get mine to fit with the pump at the bottom. Might have to move it later but mine was seized up as well.
