Hi all,
I had my alternator go kaput a couple weeks ago. I exchanged it for a new one ( this is on the Peninsular 315 - vintage 1993) and had no problems initially. The voltmeter read in the 14.1 range. However, I took a run down to Newport last evening and suddenly started getting readings of 15.5 volts +/-. Anyone else had this problem? Solutions?

might be a voltage regulator...
...you might stick a dc volt meter across each of the batteries with and without the engine and battery charger running. see if the volt meter reads the same as your cockpit gage.

Use a multi tester & see what the batterys are getting while running. If the volage is too high it is easy enough to remove the alternator & take it to a shop. Most likely the regulator is faulty. Be sure the alternator is set for correct battery type i.e. wet cell, AGM or gel cell.
