Battery Access

Post by team one »

What is best way to access batteries? just purchased an Albin 32 sportfish, batteries seem somewhat buried in the salon area, have to remove the table, and lots of skrews on the floor panel. some access from under the seat. :?

Team One,
I don't have that boat but I just wanted to welcome you to the board.
I think VeeByes has one and will probably chime in here the next time he logs on.

Keep a power screwdriver handy for quicker access.
Wait until you try to change the seawater pump impeller, if you have the Cummins.
A PFD is always in style
If you fall in the water
And swim for a mile

I have a 35 CB and the batteries are 1/2 buried under the aft settee and 1/2 under the saloon floor; accessable thru a hatch under the dinnette. I installed 2 hinges on the hatch to make the area more accessable. Now instead of removing the dinnette with its 47 screws, I can lean the table to port which opens the hatch below. I have carpet in the saloon which covers the hinges. It seems like this would work for a teak & holly floor but you might want to recess the hinges to avoid stubbing a bare foot.

Sorry about long response time.

Yes the 32s batterys are awkward to get to. Fortunately with todays no maintenance batterys the job of getting to those batterys for a check is only necessary once a year.
