Dear Previous Owner...

Allow me to write you this letter, where myself and other Albin Owners document the wonderful things you did/didn't-do/forgot-to-do when you owned my boat. I'm sure you did your best. I'm sure you sleep soundly at night. But you have made my life a living-hell/expensive-purgatory/barely-tolerable-weekend. I appreciate the bargain basement price you charged me when I bought my Albin. Thanks for the good conversation and the great Craigslist photos. Its all in fun. We're all here to Jest. This is my little chance to tell you, you're just the BEST!

I didn't listen to you. Upside down in the bilge, no one can hear you scream. And I screamed a lot of mean things about you and your mother. Thank you so very much.

#2 Thanks for Coating the Swim Platform with Deckover/Restore

Hey, Previous Owner, you know that beautiful teak swim platform that looks so fantastic on my Albin?
Yeah well, I never got to see it cause you coated it and lots of other wood with Beuhr Deckover or Rustoleum Restore. I can't get this stuff off. Its cracking yet its completely expoxied over the teak. It looks like a Home Depot deck abortion.

I took the platform to a media blaster to have it sand blasted. Too bad it will cost $250 to get every nook and cranny clean. I thought I would save the stainless mounting hardware, but I can't unscrew it because you coated every screw/bolt head with this garbage. What were you thinking?

As a PO who enjoyed as she was, thank you for using a sawzall to cut her apart.

PS BUY A STARBOARD SWIM PLATFORM to replace the 30 year old wooden one...and quit crying you know you love the work.

Found a replacement teak swim platform.
Stay away from the DeckOver.

I am glad you got a replacement. It needed it at least one of the slats was broken and glued...the job looked like crap already so enter the deck restore.


It defiantly would not have held a set of 300HP outboards you are considering.

#3. I love all the weird holes the POs cut in the boat (especially the cockpit).

You get an A+ for all the artistic, slightly imperfect cuts and extra drill holes. Bully for you!

Ok. i'll take credit for the swim platform but this isn't my handy work. is this the dash area and the hole where the GPS unit were?

Right. I'm pretty sure this was a previous previous owner.

If memory serves the records/recipes the GPS was done by a yard in NC. Inhope they did a better job on the through hull for the transducer.
The thing on the dash was, i think a Loran unit and/or digital compas. That'd predate her time as "slow pace".

#4 Using 3m 5200 to seal the center pilothouse window glass to the teak frame.


Seriously?
You know they make masking tape so you don't have to leave giant gobs of white stuff stuck to the glass.

And smearing all over the teak really doesn't help anything....

The scary thing is the lower hole was for the guage cluster so it was cut by the factory like that...lol

So I'll play and to my PO say thanks for a great boat in great shape...the problems are so small they would be expected on a brand new boat but what I most appreciate is:

• the new diesel heater
  the new red dot heater
  the Furuno Radar/GPS
  the charts for BC to Alaska
  the new windows
  the new Port lights
  the engine with 90 hours on a full rebuild
  the super bottom paint
  the LED interior lights
  the new water heater
  the inverter/power manager
  the new high output alternator
  the new starter motor
  and here is the bitch: the intermittent starter switch failure

I have had a great 400 plus hours on the engine and look forward to many more. (don't ask about the trailer..but it came separate from the boat)
