What is the name of your boat(s) and the story behind it?

Antoinette is my mom's name. She passed away 6 months before we found this boat then named "Hanna Rose". The day I saw Hanna Rose in the listing I was kind of taken back in a way. My parent’s immigrated from Europe back in the 1930s from the Island of Malta. It just so happens the national colors are Red and White.

I just took her out of the water yesterday for new bottom paint. Good thing I did because I seem to be having some kind of electrolysis problem. I just had the bottom cleaned and checked a few weeks back. The two rudder zincs and the shaft zinc are gone. Called up the diver and had her come to the boat yard to check it out. She just scratched her head. Looks like the prop is gone too. Pretty much pitted up. I decided not to have any work done on it and get a new one. Ugh…

Here she is on the sling getting ready to be set up for bottom painting. Bottom paint is 2.5 years old and still doing well. Pettit Trinida SR seems to be the standard around here.

It looks like your running gear (rudder prop etc) is painted with black bottom paint. You do know that the metal parts need to be painted with a special paint (not the same anti-fouling as the hull)? Bottom paint contains copper. If painted onto other metal parts you have created a bi metal electrolysis problem that will eat the prop, rudder, shaft, trim tabs etc.

My family has always been boating -mostly sailboats all named 'Barbra J' after my mother Barbra. I thought that was a fine tribute that my father did to honor my mother.

Our 28te is named 'Grace Full' in honor of the three dominant graces in my my life; my wife Amy Grace, my daughter Ellen Grace, & the amazing grace that God has shown me.

Prior to this boat I had a 22' Offshore skiff that was named 'Amazing Grace'...

The boats name in "Doghouse" because sometimes I spend so much time on it I am "in the doghouse", and also because they come alot.

When we bought our first boat, it came with the name "Makin' Time II". We kept the name, as it related to Karen's business, a clockshop in Wickford Village, RI. (see www.the-hourglass.com for great nautical gifts BTW). When we bought our 03' 28TE we wanted the name to reflect the next step, thus Time after Time. Comes with 2 great theme songs too, Cyndi Lauper and Frank Sinatra!

On-Rush is our boat's name, she is the second of my boats to have that name. When serving in Viet-Nam my ship worked with the Battleship New Jersey (BB-62). All Navy ships have a "discreet call sign" and the New Jersey's was "On-Rush". The first time she called us I said if I ever owned my own yacht that would be her name and so it has. The first On-Rush was a custom C&C 40 that was an extremely successful ocean racer in the Northeast US. The second is an Albin 28-TE that I ordered in 2004 she has been set up for long cruising and has a genset as well as a watermaker..We will be in Maine and the St. John River this summer if you see us please say hello (I guard 16 at all times). From sail to power, following naming Rule #1: no cute names e.g. "Dunrovin" or "Terminator".

"Adagio" is not uncommon, but here's the rationale: the A27 is slow, but graceful. Also, there's one musician in this crew. One "Adagio" owner in Massachusetts even got upset that another --in Downeast Maine --would take his name. Oh well. There are no other Adagios here yet.

BTW: it's not an easy VHF call name as we found cruising in Nova Scotia, and Quebec checking in with traffic control stations. "Adagio" seems to always need a phonics spelling on VHF.
