I own a '79 Albin 36 Classic with a 135 Perkins. I got the batteries installed and replaced the ignition switch because it had a plastic neck that was stripped and would not tighten. Not to make a long story longer, when I turn on the breaker for the running lights, the ignition system turns on without turning the key. I have rechecked the pole connections on the switch and, although the pole terminals are in a different physical location on the switch (i.e. 3 position switch with Ignition-Battery-Start) the switch works as currently connected. I don't think this was happening prior to ignition switch install. I've been chasing this problem for days and I'm about ready to pinch my head off....
Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Need Electrical Guidance
This wiring diagram is from a circa 1978 Perkins engine (on a Mainship). Your's should be the same I would think.
