why do people ask for help and then disappear?

I wish all of you who ask for help would check back in and let us know how you made out. It enhances our own knowledge and would be very helpful for those with a similar problem in the future. It's a common occurrence on every board I read and it's a bit frustrating; makes me not want to bother replying anymore. So how about some courtesy.... if you're going to post please follow up.
