Albin 28/30 Galley and Head Faucet Hoses

Post by johnmurray »

On my 2004 Albin 30FC I have had a problem with the faucet spray head coming off the end of the hose that connects to the body of the faucet. Apparently there is a simple compression joint that makes the connection and sometimes this pulls apart when the spray head is drawn out of its resting position in the body of the faucet. I understand from an A28 owner that Albin has recognized this as a design fault and has replaced the faucet heads and hoses for some owners.
In my case I attempted a repair by coating the part of the spray head that connects into the end of the hose with 5200 adhesive. After a year of use this strategy appears to have worked (so far at least) with the galley unit, but the head unit has pulled apart again. When the head unit comes off the hose, the hose drops down into the engine compartment and it is a bit of a job to fish it back up into the head again. I have done that but am now contemplating my options for a secure reconnection. I could cut the metal cap off the end of the hose and secure the spray head with a hose clamp, but then the clamp would prevent the spray head from setting properly into the fixture. Any suggestions?
