What's everyone doing?
We generally stay close to home. Everytime we planned a long weekend cruise somewhere either the weather sucked or I had boat problems. It's been a running joke in our household for years. Memorial Day?? No way! We're not going anywhere.

John, your Memorial trips sound a little like some of our trips. But I must say we have had some very nice Memorial weekend trips in past years. We have not gone away on this weekend for several years because of family obligations but this year we are making plans. If the weather holds we will be going to Montauk NY for at least one night. We might luck out, the weather looks like it will be good and so far the boat is running ok. Montauk is a very nice fishing harbor with several marinas to go to, some with pools and nice family accommodations. It's a nice place to go for two days or so.
Don't give up, if the weather holds out for you, take off and have a good time.
Either way, remember what the day is all about and what a great country we live in. Denis

Denis,
The only good thing about our not-so-good trips is that it gives us something to laugh about later on. We call them our great adventures. Although my post was somewhat negative, the outcome has never resulted in any injuries other than my ego or wallet. <smile> I agree that Memorial Day is something to think about other than a couple of days off.
Personally I have never lost a family member to a war or civil action but it is important to remember those that have.
Enjoy your trip to Montauk. Take the time to enjoy the long weekend.
