Teak Cockpit Lining

Post by rnummi »

Anyone ever consider (or has done) lining the Pilot House with teak? I'm looking at my completed project and it looks like it needs a little more something....

Hi
I have seen a boat with teak plywood on the large flat area under the Windows. I think it is not a good idea as its subject to water damage. The pilot house sides have curves in the corners that might make teak lining a tricky fitting job.

Yeah, I saw that. I think I'm going w Nu-teak. It will cover up my measles holes subsequent to fixing the cockpit deck.

We did Nu-teak below and on deck. Pretty happy with it.

Very sharp. What does something like this cost? And can you do it yourself?

It 's pretty expensive IMO. Happy wife happy life... I thought some new carpet would work. Our FTP server photo station is down for me to put up a few pictures. PM me with email and I'll send later when available.

Has anyone taken the inexpensive Teak vinyl flooring from Home Depot and drawn lines on it with permanent marker?

Im planning on doing something similar with a product called plasteak. It's highly rated and significantly cheaper than the nuteak. If I did DIY I could do the whole interior for 150-200 bux. Have to make a template cuz I think I'm gonna have them make ready to glue in panels for me instead of planking it.

Thanks Nancy as you know happy wife happy life. The improvements my wife has made really make the vessel look great. We just had all the gel coat cracks and extra holes filled and the decks painted. Now I just need to do the control / switch panel.

It went all last summer and still looks great. There has been some dive gear dropped on the deck and no issues or marks. It is not as hot in the summer as the stuff our Regal came with but you will feel it if the bimini is not up.

If you get a quote for the plasteak, let us know the damage. I'm not averse to either material. I just saw a 28te with it done on the foredeck and sides. Holy smokes that was beautiful. I clean forgot to whip out the phone and snap pics for us. Anyway, both company's have install videos on YouTube. Just spectacular. I'm at least 6 months from this so anyone who has "decked" their Albin please feel free to chime in.

Hi! Reviving this older thread. I have purchased an Albin 35 TE Flybridge, and am thinking about putting some faux teak decking on the cockpit deck. The only issue is that there are lots of deck hatches. I'm wondering if it might look a little "busy" with all the cutouts. Any newer products out there that are really awesome? I'm looking at NuTeak, and a few others...
