A27 Displacement
Has anyone else got an accurate figure on the weight of their A27? We trailered ours to the boatyard today to do a quick bottom job prior to launching for our trip south at got quite a shock - 11,000 pounds!
True, we've added the hardtop and a 260 pound diesel genset and it has 4 or 5 months of provisions aboard, full fuel, full water etc, etc, but based on Albin's claim of 7500 pounds, the 11K figure was quite a shock. I as him set it in the water to see where we'd need to make 'adjustments' to the waterline and we're adding a couple inches of new bottom paint at the stern!
Luckily, 11K is no problem for my trailer

Re: A27 Displacement
7500lbs will be the dry weight - when I shipped our 28 over on a car transporter I also quoted the dry weight to the shippers. When the boat arrived at the docks I did have an additional payment to make for the additional weight

Re: A27 Displacement
A V-10 Ford dually - With about 2500 pounds on the 5th wheel hitch, that leaves about 9500 pounds on the dual 5500 pound torsion axles on the trailer. According to the manufacturer (Dexter) they ride best when loaded to near the rated capacityJT48348 wrote:What are you towing her with?

I thought you had a dodge diesel? That ford should do it easily.

Re: A27 Displacement
I do have a '93 Dodge diesel 5 speed, but it's not a dually and after several days of rain the yard was pretty soft - The dually even got bit stuck getting it out of here. The Ford belongs to a close friend - So close that he offered to bring my trailer to me anywhere we happen to be during our Great Loop cruise and bring the boat back home if need be. Hopefully, that won't happen but it's sure reassuring to have an ace in the hole just in case
Looks like we'll be out of here, headed south around the end of the month!!!

Re: A27 Displacement
I'm fairly new to the A27FC but thought the dry weight is 6500. Am I wrong? Since she's on a 10K rated lift, I'm hoping 7800 pounds is closer to where I am.

Re: A27 Displacement
How about the Marine A/C, the generator, the 6 gallons of hardened epoxy, the 15 oil/gas filters, the tool kit, the extra parts container, I'm guessing that would add a pound or two.
