Glare from pilot house deck

Post by Yearwood »

Finally tired of the glare from the pilot house deck forward of the helm station and installed some black carpet with double sided carpet tape. Seems to work we. Perhaps painting gel coat with a two part would have been easier and better.

I hear ya, on a bright day going into the sun WOW is there some glare. I would like to hear about what you do. I would start by painting the flat white area right under the windows in the pilothouse and then do something about the area just in front of the windows outside.
I put down some dark non-skid stuff on the dash, this helps for now...

The only area I messed with was the white deck in the pilothouse forward of the helm station port and starboard. I did not feel it was necessary to go outside of the pilothouse windows.

Not to say it would have solved the problem, but I will point out that a good pair of high quality polarized sunglasses are extremely helpful on the water. I wear mine whenever the lighting conditions allow.

I simply do not want to supply such glasses to the other 47 people who have been at the helm station last year!!!
