Cabinet repair

Post by kowal_53 »

My Albin 31 TE has some of the cabinet edges is various stages of deterioration. Has anyone re-worked their cabinet edges?

Sorry about the picture orientation.

Likewise here. Not quite as bad as that but the trim is starting to peel. I'm sure I've seen somewhere you can buy it on a reel, cut to length and use an iron to bond it to the edge of the wood. The iron activates the glue in the strip and obviously lays it down flat.

I have found white, oak edging at Lowe's. I suspect the white will not match. Has anyone found any iron on material that matches the cabinets, or Cherry that is one the boat?

I only had my iron I used for my model airplanes when I was young.

here you go

and you can use any old iron, after it is ironed on and the glue activitated rub it down with a block of wood to ensure a tight seam.

And then you can finish the job with one of these
