Capacity of 27FC

Post by DCatSea »

Maybe I'm getting old or going daft, but can anyone tell me where I can find the capacity plate on a 27FC? I have scoured "Mazboot" (formerly "Vita Parlan") from stem to stern and haven't found it yet.
I also can't find the posting from earlier this year showing one. (Might it have been smacksman?)

Help Appreciated

This might help, my quick read leads me to the conclusion that a manufacturer of a 27' boat isn't required to attach a capacity plate to the vessel

I've never seen or heard of a capacity plate on the 27 or on any of the sailboats I've owned - I think they must be for smaller craft. Using the formula in the above link, you'll get 16 persons for a 27FC

Yup, It does not have one. Boats over about 22ft. or there abouts are not required to display one.

One thing you need to consider, with sixteen on board it will be tough to pull a skier out of the water.

Cripes Mark, can you imagine what it'd be like with 16 people on board our boat? Ben

I called Albin last year as there is no capacity plate on my 1985 27 express. I was told when the waterline reaches the scuppers, I'm over capacity. My boat's an express (no aft cabin)...I had 14 people on her last Thanksgiving morning.

Thanks for all the inputs - very useful. That old Lehman diesel is an ideal power plant for towing skiers with only 14 onboard, though they do tend to produce a
big bow wave.

On average, 12 people weigh a ton - or 10 Americans! :o)
