my first Albin
Just purchased a 2001 Albin 28 TE out of Maine. The boat has 138 hours on the Yanmar engine. It has 24 mile radar, GPS, Autopilot. I've owned three Grady Whites, and always wanted this boat. I intend to bring it down from Maine ( Bath, ) to Gloucester. I'm told it is a 10 hour trip but I should do it easily. The tanks hold 150 gallons and the previous owner filled it in the fall. I was also informed after I bought the boat (somehow it's always after) that their is a class action suit regarding the engine valves. I was also told the warrantee has been extended to eight years or 5000 hours. Since the engine only has 138 hours do you think I could get additional warrantee. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice you could give me. All would be helpful.
Thanks
Ray Morley

Hi Ray,
Your now an Albineer. (or something like that) I remember you were looking at a 99. That is great news. 138 hrs. is just breaking in.
There is information on the board about that suit. Someone did post a link to a website with more information. If you owned Grady's you know good boats. I think you will be very happy with the Albin.
I see you purchased a burgee as I was typing this. I'll get it right out to you. Post some pics in the pictures section when you get them. We all like looking at Albins!

Welcome aboard Ray! I'm sure you'll enjoy the new boat!
Once you've made your voyage south please post the details in the cruising section. My wife and I are thinking of making the reverse trip at some point in the not too distant future. It will be interesting to hear what the voyage is like.
Best of luck with the new boat!!

Congratulations on your purchase.
There is a thread on the Yanmar problem. Just check the serial number and register it if you are in the range. Here is the link to the settlement terms.

Have a safe journey home and post some pictures from the trip.

Re: Fuel capacity
I noticed he said "tanks" in his first post. Isn't there an extended range tank option?Capt Ron wrote:My 2000 28 TE holds 132 gallons. Did the tanks change?

Fuel Capacity
The Technical Specs Bulletin (engine box model) delivered with my boat when new shows 132 gallons standard with an additional 60 gallon tank optional. In the fuel system detail drawings it does not show where the placement would be. I can only assume under the hatch in the wheelhouse. The extra range would be nice. In that space is where Albin mounted my diesel generator.

re: congrats
Hey Ray:
I keep my center console at Pavilion Beach. I will definitely look for you on the water. And Doug, if you make it up here, I would like to show you my home waters. We can discuss at Rendezvouc.
Congrats on the new boat. I will look for you on the water.
Best,
Andrew @ Albin
