Another Newby to the group.

I am contemplating purchasing a Albin 36, that I will be looking at next week. My questions/concerns are:

1) What is major problems with the 36?
2) How are the teak decks applied to the hull (deck) (glued, screwed or tattooed)?
3) Window/ports leaking?
4) Fuel tank types and problems.

I am sure there are other areas of concern, but can not think of them rite now.

Captchrunch / Les: Welcome to the group. Their have been some water leak reported issues in the past with 36. I think the owner's are for the most part happy with the boats. I am actually searching for one as well. Where are you located? Perhaps we can share experiences. I am a former 35TE Sportfisher/Owner in the group and in search of a replacement. After rereading your post, it seems likely your are considering the 36 Albin Classic Trawler.
Friend in No. Cal. has been redoing one for the past couple of years. He had a lot of scary work on the boat, but the skills to get it right.

Hello We bought our 1983 36 classic last Dec. prior to that we owned a 27 family cruiser. I followed the market on the 36 for 3 years and this forum all the while we owned our 27. I did as much research as possible and learned a lot. It sounds like you have already identified some main problem areas, decks, windows, fuel tanks. also the Shaft log tube that goes through the Keel should be checked carefully. (even after asking our surveyor 3 times to take a close look at it he Ignored it)
Yes we chase leaks and must stay on top of deck and bright work maint. and generally work on them a lot but they are a great value for the price they sell for. Please go to the Classic trawlers section open the post about "buying a 36" its the 5th one down and click on the 2 links and read the articles, I believe they are very valuable reading for any one interested in the older trawlers.
