Need a 4D61 Lehman/Peugeot Manual

Post by Larry1942 »

It's is getting close to a year since I purchased my 1984 27FC and it has been a surprisingly fun, faultless year mechanically. Of course replacing or repairing one accessary or another was expected. After all, it's a boat. All under control until the tach stopped working recently. In the course of testing and replacing the tach which still doesn't work I have to admit to some pilot error on my part that really increased the related mechanicals. Eventually I removed the starter and alternator and had them tested at a reliable shop. The shop mechanic insisted I needed a relay in the starting cycle to replace the original wiring circuit. In the course of installing the relay, the bilge pump quit as the boat rapidly began taking on water. Foul language was uttered until I found the leaking main shaft stuffing box and quickly adjusted the stuffing box packing while a club mechanic replaced one of the bilge pumps. Retesting much of the wire jungle around the engine compartment from thirty years of somebody elses problems, it was noted that the alternator was not charging. I took the alternator regulator to "that" shop. The mechanic remarked that I needed to get somebody on that boat that "knew what he was doing." Ouch. (He's probably right) After success with thirteen houses and six sailing vessels before this boat, that kind of hurt, but back to the Albin. Removed some spring loaded old rusting relay types of devices that seemed irrelevant, the alternator is now charging. I will not bore you with the related challenges. As of this afternoon, I thought I was finally back in business with everything working.....until I turned off the ignition key but the engine kept running. I have really tried to get one of the local proven experts in but nobody is really excited about working on a thirty year old 4D61 peugeot. What I could use is 4D61 maintenance manual or a copy of one and I'm willing to pay.

There is a 4D61 operations manual in the document library. Supporting members do have access.

Also available on the yahoo group Site, but what's available is not great.
Albin did not provide any manual so boat wiring is not documented.
