New Albin 25 owner and member

Post by Matt1975 »

Hello,

We recently purchased (End of summer 2013) a 1975 Albin 25 Motorsailer. We (My wife and 2 young kids) live in the Seattle area but the boat is located in Kake, AK. The boat will stay in Kake as we have family there and visit a few times a year.

The boat is in rough shape but structurally appears sound and the Yanmar 3HM35F runs good (Though most engine accessories and systems need attention or replacement.) She sat untouched for over a year and seems to have had minimal upkeep for years before that. We have much work ahead of us but I look forward to slowly transforming her into our safe and economical family boat for summer trips in Southeast Alaska!

I believe this site will be a great community and resource to be part of!

Thanks and hello to all,

Matt and Penny

P.S...the pictures attached are taken within the first few days after we purchased her and show her "dirty and rough edges"!

What's the chimney to? Looks a bit big for a diesel heater/stove. Got any interior shots?

Hey Matt! Welcome!

I'm sure the "project" will look just great after a bit of TLC! Best of luck to you and the family. Enjoy the ride!

Hey Matt and Welcome: Looked at your boat last evening. Actually the pictures really look fine for a nice seaworthy 25'. Sounds like you are ready for the project.
Since you are from Seattle just to let you know there is an acdtive Pacifice NW Group. Some of the members including Pat also a Seattle 25' owner will be at our Pre Season meet and planning session. Take a look at the Rendezvous section for the meeting place and times following the Seattle Boat Show.
Understand your boat will be in Alaska. Don't let that keep you from joining the goup locally. Look forward to meeting you. Are you also an fisherman up in those great Alaska waters?

Welcome to Albin Owners Group Matt. I'm curious about that chimney too.
