Well, hello there!
I was shocked to see that my last post was my 1,999th! Since I felt that #2,000 ought to be in some way special I gave it a bit of thought. What is it that has kept me participating in this forum for so long, and to write so many (too many??) posts here?
And with just a bit of thought the answer was obvious. It's the sense of belonging to such a wonderful little community of people who bring their experiences, knowledge, humor, and all around great enjoyment of "messing around in boats", and do so in the friendliest manner.
I've had the great pleasure of meeting some of you at our rendezvous. Others I have had the chance to meet at various other times along the way. And of course there are many that I "know" only here on these pages, yet I enjoy our conversations just as much.
I enjoy the fact that our shared love of Albins encompasses such a diverse group of both boats and people. Where else would the "express" people and the "trawler" people, the fishermen and the cruisers, so actively discuss so many different topics? . And while we're largely a North American group I really enjoy hearing from people from around the world who've joined and participated here.
And so I wanted to post this here, in the New Member Introductions. I'm not new, but every day brings something new here, and I just love being a part of it.
2,000 posts and a bunch of years and I'm looking forward to so many more.
I'm Doug, and I really like it here!
