Just an FYI, I borrowed a Honda eu2000 generator to see if it would run my A/C before buying one. The generator was in Eco throttle mode and carrying my 10amp auto charger when I turned on my Dometic/Cruisair 10,000 BTU unit.
The generator throttled up briefly as the compressor kicked on and then carried the load at about 35-40% throttle with no problems.
Guess ill be buying a $1000 generator soon!

Interesting, I'm surprised it didn't have any problems with the other load AND being in ECO mode.
Either way, I guess you'll be opening up some "On the hook" opportunities since you won't be dependent on shore-power for the A/C! Think of the marina fees you'll save!
Plus, anchoring in some little cove somewhere, that's part of what makes boating so great!

Exactly! I've read several posts regarding CO emissions, not too worried for two reasons: obviously, you have a CO detector if you sleep on a boat with a gen set, I plan on hanging the gen set from rubber straps from bow rail or on swim platform, and, my aft cabin has positive air pressure at all times the A/c is running.
As long as fumes are kept away from forward cabin A/C unit, aft cabin is fume proof.
Exercise caution, use good judgement, know the wind and enjoy yourself.

Many just put it on the foredeck or the cabin top. While CO is slightly heavier than "air" (AFAIK) it is coming out as hot exhaust and should safely drift away.
