When or at What RPM does the Turbo Kick in?

When running a 2002 Yanmar 6LP 315hp Does anyone know at what RPM the turbo kicks in? Thanks for any replys.

Off the top of my head I can't say to be exact but I would guess its about 2300 rpm, I can't even be sure if it is a low or high pressure turbo - All I know is in my buddies Albin 28 there appears to be little lag from the turbo and it spools up very quickly!

Turbos don't necessarily "kick in". But, generally speaking, below about 1,000 rpm, they produce more drag than charge. Above that they have increasing benefit the higher you go in rpm.

i think what he means is when do they come on boost?
