My combing pads took a turn for the worst last year. Moisture got into them and mildew formed causing the material to turn color and fade. Is there any special way to protect these? Once I have the material changed and the padding replaced I was thinking of changing the mounting system some so they can be easily taken off and on (possibly Velcro). I would store them inside the boat and out of the elements. I would be interested in hearing if others have had the same problem.
Thanks,
Paul

Care of combing pads
1999 Albin 28 TE "Antoinette"
I'M Headed to the foam store today to get new foam for the new bolsters. My boat has them missing, so im starting from new. I plan to look for 6" closed cell foam as it will not collect water. I will reupholster the with white Marine grade vunyl is the plane. Are you blosters foam with a zipper on the back ? it looks like the there was a strip at the top ans snaps at the bottem. I will let send some photos after I complete the project if that will help. Steve on the left coast of Ca.

Mine became waterlogged 2 season ago. I removed the foam at the end of the season and layed it out in my basement to dry out over the winter.
In the spring I purchased a roll of thin plastic (like plastic wrap for food). I wrapped the foam in plastic and then carefully inserted them back into the vinyl. No problems since.

Drain the water
On my old boat I made the canvas guy punch a hole at the low point in each bolster and put in a grommet in. This allows the accumulating water to drain out. Helped a lot.
