Anchor locker drain in 27FC

Post by Vic K »

FYI: I'm in the process of redoing a modified '84 27 FC. While stripping the boat I found that the anchor locker had no drain hole. Matter of fact it was tabbed with fiberglass all around. I have no idea how the water was drained. I drilled a 1/4 " drain hole out the front of the bow.

After removing the headliner I found out that the bow pulpit stanchions nuts were enbedded in a globs of resin. These proved to not be very secure. Without much effort I knocked them off. They also showed signs of leaking water. I'm not replacing the liner so I can get to these base nuts through the trim thats going on.

Hey Vic - Don't you mean you have a 1984 Albin 27 UC (Ultimate Cruiser)? :D

Looks like my locker "drains" (if you want to call it that) through what appears to be a gap in the fiberglass tabbing where the bulkhead meets the inner liner. I don't see a proper drain hole for it either.

Might have to get out some 4200 and a drill too.

Thanks for the reply Hetek, I haven't heard from you in such a long while I was beginning to wonder you and Bunkie had taken off cruising. I was just trying to give you old guys a bit of a heads up on the anchor locker thing. I should refer to my Albin as the 'Cajun version' of the 27fc.
Keep the pointy end up.
