Badly Damaged Rudder

Post by JKISP »

Rudder Post is bent and the rudder ( looks like copper) is twisted. The yard thinks they can repair the rudder but I would like to replace it. The part number on it is slightly obscured by the damage but looks like MH ? 24032 where the ? represents a number I can not read because of damage. Anybody got contacts to find a new rudder?

Your rudder is cast bronze with stainless shaft and pintle. Here is a link to Buck Algonquin for replacement rudders.http://www.buckalgonquin.com/pages/Prod ... _page.html

H&H Prop Shop in Salem, MA is a Buck dealer and provided the running gear to Albin for the 28's of your era. They have all the info and part numbers. The rudder for the flush deck is the same rudder as the engine box, but significantly ground down. Call them for knowledgable service. http://www.hhprop.com/ Bob Pellitier is one of the owners. Tell him you found him through AOG.
