Great post, John. Thanks. Do they ever crash into the pilings?

Re: Docking a single screw - 2011 update
They do it a bit different in Tilghman. Start against a dock on other side of boat basin. Leave dock & go to slip on opposite side. This involves 270 degrees change in direction plus distance across basin. Only one line on pile.
I did lots of video at Tilghman. Never posted on you tube. Will see what to do when I get home in 10 days.

I don't think you'll ever see an Albin in one of those videos!

Re: Docking a single screw - 2011 update
I think an Albin docking contest at the next rendezvous would be lots of fun.
Ok, ok since y'all are wimping out on that one , then how about a dinghy docking contest?
OK, then make it a one eyed, one hand tied behind your back dinghy docking contest.... and you start AFTER you disconnect the fuel hose from the engine (or shut of the fuel valve for those with built in tanks).

I think we could have the dingy docking contest "after" the cocktail hour. That's not socially or politically correct but it would be funny!

Re: Docking a single screw - 2011 update
I think I used to be pretty good docking with a single. Had to be. Did it everyday. All variety of dock situations & weather. It was what was required for work. The toughest was a more than 180 degree spin in tight quarters then backing into the slip with the wind often windward into the slip. It was no situation for hesitant moves. I would be no competition for those watermen but I did pretty good with my Chesapeake deadrise, which btw is far more responsive than either of my Albins.
