New owner - 2005 28' TE Flushdeck
New owner - 2005 28' TE Flushdeck
Hi folks, I'm Drew and just closed on an '05 TE Flushdeck - I will keep the boat in Cataumet, MA - a harbor that has at least five 28's of various vintage/configurations that live here. I have been lurking in the forums gathering information for my purchase and have found them invaluable - Thanks for all your help and I look forward to continued assistance as I learn about it. Cheers!
Drew

You've been lurking here for awhile and still bought a FD! Just kidding - congrats!! What was your prior boat?

Funny! Actually, everything here made me more confident about the boat, esp taking advantage of the lefthand prop walk.. My other boat is a 19' Whaler Outrage ('95) with a 150 ETEC on it, she screams, but can't do much outside of kicking around the harbor and going to the beach - so hopefully I've found the perfect match in the TE - something that can handle bigger water and longer adventures. One can never have enough boats!

If you can swing it keep the Whaler, I miss the small boat on the trailer - the ability to go anywhere anytime...

Congra. Happy your lurking was successful for you. We all still surf for many of the same reasons here.
The learning of things from others we can use, an fun past time. The 19' Whaler is a great fish boat and yes, lots of speed. If ever I sell my second boat the twin 290 Luhrs the smaller Whaler will be a consideraition for local fishing for me.
Have previously owned the 9', 15', 17' and the 27' Full Cabin. All great boats except they do ride hard.
Great choice in the 28. Know several people who love them. You have two great boats.

Congratulations...I bought my 28, Blue Chip, because it looked as if it could handle Buzzards Bay, and it has not disappointed, though a we have had a few hairy sleigh rides back to West Falmouth from Woods Hole or south of that. It is a great boat for the area. Are you at Kingman's or Parker's? I am on a mooring in West falmouth. Hope we meet next summer..Peter
I love my 1998 Albin28..but I hate the Peninsula in it
Re: New owner - 2005 28' TE Flushdeck
Thanks everyone! I have the boat at Kingmans, although there is another Albin (newport edition) over at Parkers, 3 at Kingmans, and two more out on private moorings. I got the hint. I think I saw Blue Chip a few times this summer - we should rendevous for mudslides on the back side of Bassetts some weekend.

Oh, and regarding the whaler, the joke around here is that I'll be buried next to it.

Re: New owner - 2005 28' TE Flushdeck
Saw your comment about being buried next to the Whaler. Well have heard of one being buried in a specal car, but no one in a Whaler. Be sure there is no water it will work it's way back to the top. Well, "next" to the Whaler is not quite the same. You clearly love that boat. My "Nibbles" will be a long way from our home, so if the Luhrs sells and the iF get bigger by the day I will look for a 19' open Whaler or a 22' Grady While for local fishing and something to get out of the water locally on a trailer. You have a great combination there.
