Looking to move up

Post by Nowhere Special »

Presently the Admiral and I are looking at a 36 dc trawler. (Albin of course) Is there anything special that we should look for?

Water damage from leaky windows, and leaky decks. Look on top of the fuel tanks if you can, behind the tanks, etc. Take a small camera, it can look where you can't see.

I agree fully with Jays comments. When I went looking I wasn't going to buy unless the teak decks had been replaced. my surveyor made it pretty clear that these boats dont like fresh water. In my blog below note we bought a winter cover. We downsized from a 42' Uniflite and we just love this boat.
Also, think hard about whether you can handle the teak maintenance. I love teak. We are starting our second summer with the boat and I have been stripping, sanding and varnishing for what now seems like about 200 years.
