Zinc Suppliers

Post by dkircher »

Hi Everyone,

I have been doing some internet price shopping for zincs. I have been buying locally. However, I recently purchased bow thruster zincs from Boatzincs. com.

In addition to Boatzincs.com, I found the Zinc Doctor, USAZincs and the Zinc Warehouse on line. The best prices appear to be the Zinc Doctor and the Zinc Warehouse. Has anyone dealt with these two companies? Were you satisfied with their customer service?

Boatzincs appears to have great customer service, so I am happy with them. However, their limited clearance shaft zincs are considerably higher than the others.

Finally, only Boatzincs and USA Zincs appear to carry thruster zincs.

Any thoughts about my findings?

Regards,
Dave

I have found that when comparing apples to apple that boatzincs.com almost always has the lowest price, and if you order more than $100 worth I believe the shipping is free (not inconsiderable when shipping zinc). When you say limited clearance, I'm thinking you are talking about the collar style zinc that we must use on our prop shafts due to the limited exposed shaft area on the 28TE between the skeg & prop. You can buy a simple zinc doughnut for cheap, but the collars from boatzinc.com have a solid metal liner with 2 little copper balls that make for a better electrical connection to the shaft. See http://www.boatzincs.com/collar.html

Just ordered shaft, rudder and thruster zincs based on your recommendations. Realized I'd made a mistake on my address. Responded to the confirmation e-mail.

They've already responded with a nice note and the problem is fixed. I'll have my zincs Wednesday. I'm hooked! :-)

I will vote for Boatzincs.com also. Great service and the free shipping surely saves a lot. I have also ordered the Copper Pro™ 67 SCX bottom paint and it works great.

Yes indeed and significantly cheaper than Defender or Jamestown. And free shipping. Sweet.

Thanks for your very quick responses. Since everyone has been happy with Boatzincs.com, including me, I'll stay with them. They do have terrific service and I agree that the cheapest isn't necessarily the best way to go!

And they are not just zincs....since I needed to get to the $100 mark for the shipping I decided to try their bottom paint this year. Competitively priced and free shipping. Delivered the next day. :D
