sea anchor

Post by sharffj »

Any thoughts about the size of a sea anchor to run off a 31 TE for drifting offshore. Want to hold my bow into the swell/chop while drifting at night.. Would you run a large one off the stern which I worry about getting into the props, or would you run 2 smaller ones off the sides maybe halfway down .

Hi Jeff,
I started to reply to this before but stopped. I am not qualified to answer and can only pass on information I have read. According to this document, on page 6, you would want a 12-15' anchor. http://www.seaanchor.com/pdf/sea_anchor ... ctions.pdf

From what I have read you deploy from the bow in most cases.
