Meet Sonny IV
Hi all!
Thought I'd introduce the newest "member" of the AOG boat family!
She's a 2006 35TE Convertible with twin 370 Volvo D6's and she's beautiful! (IMHO)
I know I haven't posted many comments on her as we went through the purchase process...the whole thing just went SO smoothly and I'm a big believer in boating karma! So no talking about it until the deal is done. We closed yesterday! Faithful Sonny's II and III will be heading to new homes in Florida as part of the deal which now sees us as the owners of JUST 2 boats. Guess I'll have to retire my "Fleet Admiral Doug" title!
Rob and Matt - I'm still expecting to be fearless with a saw and drill! It's like a blank canvas, almost completely factory stock. I have a bunch of projects in mind...but I'll be trying to control myself until I've had some running time on her to see where my priorities should be.
She'll spend the rest of the winter in Point Pleasant New Jersey where she'll get a generator installed and we'll add the little touches to make her ours. Looking forward to showing her off at the rendezvous!
More pictures later, I'm off to deal with snow and ice...

Doug,
Way to go!. Yes the blank canvas is certainly a bonus. TOY-RIFIC was that way as well. Much better when you don't have to clean up someone else's mess just to start your own. Best of luck and keep in touch as you get close and personal with her, we want details!
Genset being installed...I am guessing you are going back to a mooring this season?

Welcome to the world of the 35! Very different boat than the 28. Looking forward to "checking her out" this summer! Don't worry, this winter is flying by....

Re: Meet Sonny IV
No, we're still going to be at Norwalk Cove, but we want the ability to run AC and, more importantly, the galley, while spending weekends aboard. Hoping to make a number of overnight anchorage stays on her, probably Lloyds Neck, Eatons Neck and Oyster Bay to start off. Later trips to the coves of Martha's Vineyard (Tashmoo?)RobS wrote: Genset being installed...I am guessing you are going back to a mooring this season?

Thanks Chuck! I'm going with either a Kohler or Onan, think the weight with the sound-shield is around 400lbs. She sits plenty high at rest so I think we'll be fine.Chuck Waygood wrote:Congratulations, Doug, and thanks for the response. Watch your weight with the genset.

Congratulations and best of luck! (Maybe we can hook up to cruise together to the rendezvous this summer as you pass Fairfield on your way East).

Question - where do folks in your area tend to go for your shorter trips? Down in Norwalk I'm usually staying around the Islands or Darien or head across to Eaton's Neck or the Oyster Bay area.
