Is mounting Spurs on a 28 Newport a DIY job? What is involved?
Might someone have some pics please to illustrate how it is done?
Also what size? Assuming we all have the same size strut hub, it looks like model type B, C and D fit a 1 1/2" shaft.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Spurs?
Do you mean the Spur line cutter? If so, I have one on mine. But, my manual is on the boat and I won't be there until the weekend to check the model number or take pictures. Mine was on the boat when I purchased so I can't say DIY or not. I'll post pictures when I can. I'm thinking my shaft is 1 1/4".

Re: Spurs?
Yes. Headed to Maine next summer and planning ahead.
I found an installation manual on line. I'm a little bit skeeved about drilling and tapping the strut and would love to hear if the install is easier or harder than it looks... Anyone out there with experience mounting SPURS line cutters? Thanks.

Re: Spurs?
I installed spurs on my ex, a 1978 Mainship. It was easy to do. No issue drilling/tapping thru the strut. Just understand you need to remove it first just in case. I never drilled completely thru mine. I made a "bottoming" tap out of a standard, but you can also just buy one.
You'll need a standard tap to start off, then use the bottoming tap to make the threads almost to the bottom of the blind hole in the strut.
At least that's the way I did mine.
I don't remember what the directions said to do.
