My engine is making a noise after startup that sounds like a squealing belt. Albin 28 FD Yanmar 315.
Does anyone have a quick diagnostic and/or fix for this issue? It only happens at low idle and doesn't last a long time but is annoying to listen to. Engine is maintained each spring and fall by a diesel mechanic.

Re: Sqeaky belt?
Belt could need tightening or replacement. If your engine is equipped with air heater option they draw quite a bit on startup/warmup which would put a demand on your alternator. The belt could now have lost some rubber. Best bet is to replace the 2 belts and keep the ones you now have as spares and keep them onboard.

Re: Sqeaky belt?
mine developed the same noise this spring. simply re-tightened the belts.
i must have left the alternator bolt a little loose during spring commissioning.

Re: Sqeaky belt?
I'm prettty sure it is just the belts. I realized that they are only squeaking when they are fully warmed up. going to tighten and maybe apply some belt dressing. On a another note, I disconnected the air heater as i am only running in warmer weather. that heater was really draining on my starter and battery.
