mildew

Post by barbco228 »

I am looking for suggestions on how to remove mildew from the zipper on our bridge enclosure. We don't have a canvas enclosure, and I am embarrassed to say that I don't know what it is made of except to say that it was purchased at Standish boatyard and has the usual enclosure that they use for our 2006 Albin. I am afraid of damaging the enclosure with chemicals. I've tried steam, 3M mildew remover, and have had poor results. I don't have a lot of mildew, but the zipper is white and shows everything. Any suggestions? I'm sure someone out there near Tiverton RI knows what my enclosure is made of......

For mildew I first go with full strength white vinegar......
If that doesn't do it...I move on (carefully) with bleach products

Try Tilex Root. It works great. I even use it to clean fenders and patio furniture.
