Hi, I am a long time boater with a new to me 2003 35 TE. Great boat. My boat and the two others I looked at all have cracks in the flying bridge just forward of the pedistal mount helm seats. (Fishing layout FB with the steering console in the aft or the bridge.)
Does anyone out there have suggestions on how to repair the crack and more importantly how to keep it from coming back? The flying bridge is balsa cored and the seats mount just aft of a joint in the core and the crack appears over the joint.
I am planning on replacing the two helm chairs with a bench seat. Hopefully the four legs will offer better resistance to the loads and not crack. Anybody out there have any other solutions?
Finally the boat yard repairing the crack is concerned about putting new fasteners or holes into the cored assembly. Any fastener suggestions? 5200? Is there adequate room between the headliner and the bottom of the flying bridge for a SS toggle to work?
Thanks for the input! Trav
