I have been debating the merits of adding an "Alaskan" bulkhead to my boat. I am aware that there are pros and cons from a series of posts in this forum a couple of years ago. There was also a photo of one, but it did not show much detail.
Did Albin make them or were they done as an aftermarket addition? Is there more than one version? What are they made out of? Any idea of cost?
Any comments and/or photos would be appreciated.

Re: Alaskan Bulkhead
John,
I have one on my boat. I am not the original owner, actually I'm owner number 3. Boat came form Petersburg, Alaska with it installed already. I believe it was after market but I also believe Albin installed them as an option. And yes there are different kinds. I have seen them with a full glass on the sliding door. Mine only has glass on the top half. I 'll take a good look at mine to see if there is any indentification on it and let you know if I find any information.
It really cuts down the noise. I boat all year round out here and in the winter it's really a nice thing to have.

The "Alaskan" bulkhead was an option offered by Albin and my boat was delivered when new with it installed. Filed away I have a 2004 options pricelist which I will dig out and find the cost. No exposed markings on the enclosure noting a manufacturer. I'd bet Ken Hilton at Standish could chase it down for you.
I'd be happy to snap more pictures for you with a tape laid on deck to give you an idea how it lays out.

Re: Alaskan Bulkhead
Many thanks to Capt. Paul and Pitou for their very helpful comments and photographs. I think there is a local craftsman who could build one for me over the winter. I would very much appreciate any further details or photos that you might be able to provide, in particular how connections are made at all four points where the bulkhead meets the original pilothouse.
