Another New Member re Transport!

Post by taylorjf »

Hi,

I've just joined AOG. Located in Mystic Ct. I'm purchasing a classic Albin 36 and need to get it transported from Bayfield MI to Mystic. Any good suggestions?

Also, how big a job is it to remove/replace the flybridge for transport.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Joe I am in Mystic also at Gwenmor. Where are you going to be?
Michigan to Mystic would be a great trip if you had the time. We bought ours in Rochester and ran it down via the canal.
If I had to remove my bridge I would be more afraid of what I'd find. I know I'd end up with a list of resulting projects.
But at least you'll be able to seal things up.

Good luck.

Welcome to the fleet. Seconds on running her to the new home on her own bottom. A 24hr trip, for the hauler, 9 years ago was $1K for my 32. Hate to think what it would be from MI plus the added cost of dealing with the flybridge.

What a great delivery trip through the lakes & down the Hudson would be!! A great chance to get to know the boat & what needs to be done.

I used Murphy Transport [800-258-3470] murphyyacht@adelphia.net] to ship 35'TE from LI, NY to Seattle. It was $10,000. Please see posts this forum under general discussion Jan 21, 2007.
Welcome and good luck.

Thanks everyone! Jay, I'll most likely be across the water from you near Masons Island Marina. Look forward to meeting you.

All of the comments resonate strongly with me. I am communicating with the seller and he is being extremely helpful in helping develop the most practical land/sea combinations that are less expensive and avoid removing the fly-bridge. I'll let you know how things progress!

Thanks again,

Joe
